Beards Creek Sailing Club

May 20, 2008 - Beards Creek / Blue Angels Party. As has become our established custom, we will all sail over from Beards Creek in the South River, over to the Severn River to watch the Blue Angels warm up practice session that always precedes their actual performance. The full performance is such a zoo that we just never go there any more, drawing greater enjoyment from the low key, uncrowded performance that hardly anybody knows about that occurs a day before the real event. It is just as good as the real thing, and a lot less stressful.
May 31, 2008 - 7 PM at the Clubhouse. Dinner and Dance, music by the Boston Pops Combo, black tie. (free to all members and one guest, $200 charge for other guests by invitation only, make reservations with Steffi.)
June 1, 2008 - Older Members Event, Annual Card Competition. Twice a year we have a "Go Fish" cards competition, played by the usual rules except that competitors get an additional 1 card handicap for each year of their age over 80. The winner set a record last year, $1337 in winnings. We were shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn of this.
July 4, 2008 - Independence Day Race/Raftup/Party. - Watch this space for more information.
